| Practice Concentration
Services include representing a wide range of public and private employers at all levels of administrative, state and federal court proceedings and dispute resolution sessions; counseling employers and providing training on state and federal anti-discrimination and wage/hour laws, protecting trade secrets, workers’ compensation issues, USERRA and the FMLA, drafting employment policies, conducting workplace investigations and hiring and termination decisions.
Representative Experience
| • | Advising highly-visible public employer through contract negotiations while avoiding union strike and negative publicity; advising several other public and private employers regarding union matters | | • | Obtaining defense verdict for an employer in a race discrimination trial in state court (Williams v. York Int’l, Franklin County 2003) | | • | Obtaining a preliminary injunction prohibiting former employees from working for a competitor in violation of their employment agreements | | • | Obtaining multiple dismissals and summary judgment decision in state and federal courts on discrimination, harassment, FMLA, wrongful termination and breach of contract claims | | • | Authoring multiple briefs before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals resulting in affirmations of summary judgments for employers on federal age and national origin discrimination claims | | • | Obtaining reversal of a probable cause finding by the Ohio Civil Rights Commission and numerous no probable cause determinations for employers on charges filed with both the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Ohio Civil Rights Commission |
