Representative Experience

Represented the Ohio Grocers Association in the Ohio Supreme Court in the association’s constitutional challenge to Ohio’s commercial activities tax, a case Columbus Business First called “one of [the court’s] most important cases of the year.”  The September 1, 2009 oral argument can be viewed from the Ohio Supreme Court’s website.

Represented, with CWS partner Steve Fitch, retail natural gas suppliers in the United States Supreme Court in a constitutional challenge to Ohio’s taxation of natural gas sales.
Represented three former Ohio attorneys general in an amicus brief to the Ohio Supreme Court relating to the power and authority of the office of the attorney general to represent the state of Ohio in matters pending before the courts
Represented local beer distributorship in obtaining permanent injunction issued by U.S. District Court against manufacturer’s attempt to terminate client’s local franchise
Represented major local law firm on appeal from order denying motion to hold firm in contempt relating to garnishment proceedings

Successfully obtained affirmance on appeal of dismissal of shareholder derivative lawsuit seeking millions of dollars in damages against computer software development corporation and its board of directors
